🐃 Land Rover 300Tdi Engine Problems
Jode. Our 300 Tdi (1995 vintage) has recently had an extensive service, which included new air and fuel filters, flushed intercooler/oil cooler/ rad, all new fluids, new timing belt and timing gear kit (thank you Land Rover engineers), adjusted tappets, and cleaned injectors using fuel additive. Despite all that, when starting off on the flat

My franchised dealer put Castrol Magnatec Diesel 10/40 in my 300TDi at the first (1000-mile) service and I have continued to use the same stuff ever since. Price at Costco is £32 for 8L (box of 2x4L bottles) which is almost half what I see it for everywhere else.
1. Do the standard tweaks to the pump, make sure the turbo is boosting correctly and slap a huge intercooler on it. That should see in the region of a 35% gain in hp/torque ~150hp/260lb ft. 2. If you want more slap a nitrous oxide kit on and run as big a shot as you can fuel for and that you are brave enough to do. 3.
The 300 TDI measured from same point at the rear of the block as the V-6 will just touch the fan shroud of the existing radiator. The 300 is a longer engine. I am planning on using a radiator/ intercooler set up from a series LR. The oil pans and pick ups are different on the South American 2.8 power strokes.
Started up the 300tdi this morning and got about 1/2 mile away from the house. Sitting at a stop sign at idle, the engine suddenly got louder and ran rough. I turned around immediately and started heading back home when the engine started losing a lot of power and I had to keep a much higher RPM for the car not to stall out.
While oil leaks around the cylinder head on many other engines can mean some serious problems, on the 300Tdi engines, they are not that huge of a deal. Though oil leaks into the exhaust manifold can have spectacular consequences, all you need to do is to replace these seals and O-rings.

Posted February 21, 2007. Hi, I have a November 1995 300 Tdi Discovery Auto fitted with EDC, and could do with some advice from people with EDC experience. The discovery will cruise at 70mph on the level no problem, but when you reach a incline it starts to gradually lose power, at the top of the incline your doing 50mph.
